Few people realized that the Texas Tech Administration Building had been envisioned by William Ward Watkin from the outset as a massive cloistered complex complete with four identical carillon towers – not just the two we are all familiar with today. Funding for the remaining wings to the “square donut” concept for Administration fell through in the 1927 Texas Legislative Session, and would never be realized.
