City of McKinney Municipal Complex
Following the 2019 bond election approval, McKinney set to develop a new Municipal Community Complex to unite City Council, various city departments, and the public in a single location.

Reflecting Character and Charm
Currently spread across multiple downtown buildings, these services will be centralized to promote a sense of community, inclusion, and collaboration. Designed in partnership with Lake|Flato, the complex will be part of a new district on a 13-acre site east of Highway 5, reflecting the character of McKinney’s existing downtown by adopting the city’s traditional 200’ x 200’ block framework.
Enhancing Connectivity and Civic Engagement
The anticipated 180,000-square-foot City Hall will house key departments, including the City Manager, Development Services, Financial Services, and Parks and Recreation Administration. The complex will also incorporate the Municipal Court and will feature multi-purpose community spaces, both indoor and outdoor. A separate City Council Chambers is planned to encourage community use and engagement. Additionally, the design will include green spaces and integrate with McKinney’s hike and bike trail network, connecting to Old Settler’s Park.

A Catalyst for Urban Development
By complementing existing development and serving as a catalyst for area redevelopment, McKinney’s Municipal Complex aims to become a vital part of the city’s growth, fostering a vibrant, cohesive community.
