How Monahans High School Became a Unified Vision for the Future

In May 2019, the community of Monahans, Texas, took a bold step toward the future by voting to revitalize Monahans High School. Decades-old facilities—some dating back to 1949—were no longer meeting the needs of modern education. With support from a dedicated bond committee, a vision emerged: consolidate aging, scattered buildings into a single, state-of-the-art campus under one roof.

Building for Flexibility, Safety, and Student Success

Parkhill led the transformation, replacing outdated spaces like the auditorium, gym, cafeteria, shop, and natatorium with 134,000 square feet of new, purpose-built facilities. These additions included a new library, administrative offices, and collaborative learning spaces designed for flexibility, engagement, and college and career readiness. With advanced building systems, improved air quality, and modern security features, the new campus environment is both safe and inspiring.

Transforming Legacy Spaces

The redesign unified a campus that had grown in pieces over 70 years, integrating old and new structures through consistent materials like matching brick masonry and softened stone accents. Large glass walls put learning on display while bringing natural light deep into the interior.
