Arlington’s Abram Street
The Abram Street Rebuild is the largest street redevelopment project in Arlington’s history. This transformative project aims to boost retail and business redevelopment in Downtown Arlington by creating a more inviting environment for pedestrians. The roadway was reduced from five lanes to three, allowing for wider sidewalks, enhanced landscaping, and improved lighting. New parking configurations, including on-street, back-in, and parallel options, were also added to accommodate visitors.

A Grand Welcome
A key feature of the project includes two “Welcome Mats” at the east and west entrances, signaling the arrival to Downtown Arlington. The street passes between Arlington City Hall and the Levitt Pavilion, where a plaza with retractable bollards has been developed to host special events and festivals. The space is highlighted by four sculpture towers and serves as a focal point for two major annual parades.
Building Community Trust
Infrastructure improvements, such as new water and sewer systems and advanced drainage solutions, were integrated into the project. The design team placed a strong emphasis on public involvement, engaging local business owners and hosting public meetings to ensure community buy-in. This inclusive approach fostered positive feedback and excitement for the future of Downtown Arlington.
