Mary stills of Parkhill delivers BCI grant to the Underserved Communities Foundation

The Underserved Communities Foundation (UCF) has received a $6,000 grant from Parkhill’s Building Community Investment (BCI) to support its Sweet Beginnings Program, which assists families and young adults transitioning from homelessness to independent living.

Parkhill Senior Architect and Board Member Mary Stills presented the check to UCF Executive Director Diana Hastings and Deputy Director Dianica Jacquez.

“We want to thank you and the Parkhill Foundation for your generosity in awarding us this grant,” Diana said. “Your support of the Sweet Beginnings Program makes a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families transitioning from homelessness to independent living. We truly appreciate Parkhill’s commitment to uplifting our community.”

The Sweet Beginnings Program addresses a critical gap for those moving into permanent housing without basic household items. Many individuals leave homelessness only to arrive in empty homes, lacking the essentials needed to build a stable life.

UCF provides both essential and enhanced household kits. While essential kits include kitchenware, towels, cleaning supplies, and bedding, the enhanced kits add longer-term necessities like memory foam mattresses, platform beds, and table-and-chair sets. The goal is to promote dignity, comfort, and long-term self-sufficiency.

With Parkhill’s support, UCF will distribute more Enhanced kits to newly housed individuals and families across El Paso County.
