Parkhill and Komatsu Architecture are proud to announce a new partnership, uniting two respected Texas-based design practices with a shared commitment to strengthening communities through thoughtful, collaborative design.

This partnership brings together Parkhill’s interdisciplinary architecture and engineering capabilities with Komatsu Architecture’s deep experience in design delivery and architectural excellence. Each firm carries a distinct legacy, yet both are grounded in the belief that design has the power to create lasting, meaningful impact. They also share a culture that fosters a challenging and caring workplace for their employees.

“This new step in our journey is about building on what already works — trusted relationships, strong design, and community impact — and expanding our ability to serve Texas in a deeper, more meaningful way,” said Komatsu Architecture President and CEO Karl Komatsu.

Founded in 1959, Komatsu Architecture has built a legacy of enduring design with care. As a second-generation practice, the firm is known for its dedication to craftsmanship, strong client relationships, and thoughtful planning. Their services span architecture, interior design, programming, historic preservation, and master planning, supporting clients at local, state, national, and international levels.

From its in-progress design of the Reeves County Justice Center, Courthouse, and festival plaza to historic rural courthouses across Texas and first responder and public safety facilities that serve communities statewide, the Komatsu legacy will continue with Parkhill into the next century.

Parkhill, with more than 80 years of experience, offers a broad range of services spanning education, civic, faith, commercial, healthcare, and infrastructure. With 15 offices across Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, Parkhill is recognized for delivering sustainable, forward-thinking built environments that enhance lives and support growing communities.

“At the core of this partnership is a shared mindset,” said Parkhill Executive Vice President of Architecture Dan Hart, FAIA, PE. “Both firms are deeply committed to community-centered design, long-term relationships, and collaborative design thinking. By coming together, we are better positioned to serve our clients and communities with greater depth and impact.”

Together, the firms form a unified platform that expands capabilities, resources, and reach. Komatsu’s strength in architectural design pairs naturally with Parkhill’s integrated approach, creating a more comprehensive and connected project delivery model.

The combined organization will continue to prioritize listening to clients, adapting to community needs, and delivering solutions that support growth, connection, and opportunity across Texas and beyond.
