Bates Road Bridge for Chickasaw Nation
Redesign for Realignment Improves Safety and Accessibility
Parkhill partnered with The Chickasaw Nation to replace the Bates Road Bridge on County Road 1580 in Pontotoc County. The project involved realigning the county road to eliminate hazardous S-curves, ensuring straight approaches to the new bridge. This redesign improves safety for motorists by providing a smoother and more direct route.

Hydraulic Study Ensures Optimal Design
A comprehensive hydraulic study of Clear Boggy Creek was conducted to properly size the new bridge and meet FEMA flood plain criteria. The project required significant fill on the approaches, affecting the stream’s hydraulic model and necessitating additional right-of-way acquisition. The new bridge location and design enhance safety while ensuring compliance with hydraulic and floodplain standards.
