Sustainable Design Meets Community Need in a Wellness Center That Fosters Growth and Health

The Bonton Farms Health and Wellness Center was designed to do more than house essential services — it was created to strengthen the community it serves. As an 11,000-square-foot pro bono project, Parkhill envisioned a welcoming destination where healthcare, financial resources and community programs come together in one accessible place. The first floor combines a wellness clinic, community gathering spaces and a banking center, while the second floor provides offices for Bonton Farms leadership, creating a central hub that supports long-term health, economic opportunity and neighborhood growth.

Designed With the Community

The design was shaped through conversations with the people who know the neighborhood best. During a community town hall, residents and local leaders shared their priorities and aspirations, helping ensure the building reflects the needs, values and character of the community it serves.

Design Choices That Supports a Healthier Future

Sustainability is woven throughout the project, from energy-efficient building systems and water-saving fixtures to bike accommodations and locally sourced materials. Beyond the building itself, the Wellness Center supports broader community goals by expanding access to fresh food, promoting health education, creating local jobs and strengthening economic opportunity.
