City of Allen Molsen Farm
The Molsen Farm Masterplan showcases innovation not only in project management and construction phasing but also in repurposing existing spaces and creatively expanding land use. The result is a dynamic and versatile community resource that enhances the quality of life, economic vitality, and cultural experiences for the City of Allen.

Innovative Design Merges Nature and Community
In 2021, the City of Allen enlisted Parkhill to bring a visionary master plan to life for Molsen Farm. After extensive site visits, public meetings, and collaboration, the plan emerged to turn Molsen Farm into a regional destination rather than just a local park. The farm will connect to the Rowlett Creek Trail System and preserve its natural features, including the Pecan tree grove, riparian forest, entry drive, and ponds.
Innovative Design Merges Nature and Community
Parkhill’s design cleverly uses four existing tree-lined pastures as outdoor “rooms,” each serving different elements of the site’s program. These spaces—The Trailhead (South), Core (East), West Venue (West), and The North Room (North)—can be closed off for private events or Forestry Department use without limiting public access to the farm. The farm will also feature an educational facility, community garden, farmers markets, and day camping opportunities.

Phase 1 Kicks Off with Nature and Recreation
As construction begins, the focus will be on the site’s southern portion. This phase includes the main entry, a circular parking lot, and a trailhead leading visitors through the restored Blackland Prairie and Pecan grove, connecting to the Rowlett Creek Trail System. Inspired by the master plan, the City of Allen has purchased an additional 16-acre “room,” with plans for a farm-to-table restaurant incubator and a city party barn, further expanding Molsen Farm’s community offerings.
