City of Lubbock Municipal Parking Garage

Does a Parking Garage Pave the Way for Downtown Revitalization?

To streamline operations, the City of Lubbock decided to relocate staff from City Hall and other buildings to the centralized Citizens Tower. This move required at least 578 parking spaces to support staff and the future police headquarters. The existing two-story parking garage, however, had reached the end of its useful life, plagued by structural issues and accessibility deficiencies.

Connecting the Community

Parkhill was chosen to design a new, modern parking garage just south of Citizens Tower. The new structure will feature three parking levels, two elevators, and four stairwells, ensuring accessibility and convenience. Additionally, the garage will connect to Citizens Tower via an existing underground tunnel, providing seamless access for city staff.

Foundation for Progress

More than just a parking solution, this project is a vital component of the ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. By providing the necessary infrastructure, the new parking garage supports the consolidation of city services, enhancing efficiency and accessibility for the community. Scheduled for completion in August 2021, the garage represents a commitment to modernize the city’s facilities while supporting future growth.

This new parking structure is more than a convenience; it’s a foundational element in Lubbock’s vision for a vibrant, accessible, and revitalized downtown area, shaping the city’s future with thoughtful planning and design.
