City of McKinney Indoor Tennis Center

Recreational Opportunities Mixed With a Hub for Community Events Enriches the Social and Sporting Landscape

In 2019, the City of McKinney sought Parkhill’s expertise for a feasibility study on an indoor tennis facility at the The Courts of McKinney at Gabe Nesbitt Park, exploring different design concepts and construction costs. The study empowered the city with the information needed to move forward with its ambitious vision.

Blending Function and Form

The resulting 56,000-square-foot facility combines a conventional structure for support spaces, like a lobby, restrooms, and fitness rooms, with a fabric structure housing six tournament-ready courts. This unique blend of building types uses a mix of masonry, steel, and wood façade elements, seamlessly integrating the new indoor facility with the existing Gabe Nesbitt Tennis Center.

More Than Tennis

The facility is designed not only for tennis enthusiasts but also for large community events, such as awards dinners and concerts. Its strategic layout provides easy access to and from the existing clubhouse, with ample room for social gatherings and vendor spaces during tournaments.
