El Paso Jonathan Rogers Water Treatment

How Innovative Water Control Structures Manage Flow With Precision

Parkhill, the original designer of the Jonathan Rogers Surface Water Treatment Plant, was selected to lead a crucial expansion, increasing the plant’s capacity by 20 million gallons per day (MGD). The upgrade involved implementing a state-of-the-art automation and control system, featuring 15 programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to manage each stage of the treatment process.

High-Tech Solutions

These PLCs communicate via fiber-optic and copper connections, ensuring smooth coordination of system tasks. In addition, Parkhill designed a custom human-machine interface (HMI) with over 50 unique graphical screens deployed across 12 view stations throughout the plant.

Real-Time Control

The upgraded system now provides automated control for up to 60 MGD, dramatically improving the plant’s efficiency and ensuring reliable water treatment for the community.
