El Paso River Bend Drive Pedestrian & Bicycle Enhancements

How a Tight Deadline Sparked a Greener, Safer Corridor on El Paso’s West Side

Fast-Tracked, Community-Focused

To bring safe, scenic mobility options to El Paso’s West Side, the City fast-tracked the River Bend Drive Pedestrian & Bicycle Enhancements. Faced with a tight TxDOT deadline, PSC jumped in with only weeks to spare, using base files to get a head start while surveys were still underway.

Greener Miles on River Bend

The design was phased: Phase I created a 12’ path with tree-shaded rain-harvesting swales; Phase II extended it, adding lighting, landscaping, and bus connections. With over 550 new trees, 2,700+ shrubs, and thoughtful stormwater features, this corridor now offers a cool, green, and connected space for people walking, biking, or waiting for a bus—proof that fast-track design can still plant lasting roots.
