How an Act of Kindness is Transforming Education in Dalhart

In 2015, former Dalhart Mayor Gene Rahll and his wife, Louise, made a transformative $4 million gift to fund a new satellite campus for Frank Phillips College (FPC) in Dalhart, Texas. While FPC already served students in the northwest Texas Panhandle, the existing center lacked suitable facilities for key instructional activities. Working alongside the Dalhart Economic Development Corporation (DEDC), FPC developed a master plan based on the region’s dual-credit, adult education, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) needs.

Planning for Progress

An academic assessment revealed a long-term need for nearly 58,000 square feet of educational space, with an initial phase of 17,410 square feet dedicated to academic and vocational programs. The new campus was designed to meet the growing demand for CTE programs such as welding and commercial driver’s license training, essential for regional workforce development.

From Vision to Reality

Thanks to the Rahll family’s vision and generosity, the new campus stands as a state-of-the-art facility, empowering students to pursue four-year degrees or gain valuable vocational skills that support the local economy.
