Hereford Wellfield Expansion

Proactive Measures to Address Growing Water Needs

To meet the increasing water demands of industrial clients and combat declining water levels in the Ogallala Aquifer, the City of Hereford, Texas, purchased Dockum water rights on land north of their existing sources. After favorable test hole results, the City partnered with Parkhill to scope and design a well field expansion project.

Comprehensive Project Planning and Funding

Hereford issued $4.55 million in tax and revenue certificates to fund the well field expansion and replace the main lift station. Parkhill was contracted to provide surveying, engineering, regulatory approvals, and construction management, ensuring all project services were handled in-house for seamless execution.

Implementing a Sustainable Water Solution

Parkhill’s design includes five 500 GPM public water supply wells, a collection system, and an electrical system. The project received TCEQ approval, and three bid packages were issued to ensure competitive pricing. Construction is underway, with completion expected in spring 2021, securing a reliable water supply for Hereford’s growing needs.
