Katherine Rose Memorial Park
As communities grow, parks should evolve alongside them. When the City of Mansfield partnered with Parkhill to update the 55-acre Katherine Rose Memorial Park Master Plan, the goal was to create a more welcoming and inclusive experience for every visitor. The plan expands the park to incorporate newly acquired land while reimagining key amenities, including an inclusive playground, splash pad, parking and restrooms. By relocating active sport courts to the adjacent Hardy Allmon Soccer Complex, the design creates space for quieter recreation within Katherine Rose while providing dedicated areas for organized sports nearby.

Designing Through the Community’s Eyes
Community input shaped every step of the master plan. Parents of children with disabilities shared firsthand experiences about what makes playgrounds enjoyable and accessible, helping the design team create spaces that remove barriers and encourage every child to play together.
Creating Spaces with Purpose
The updated plan organizes recreation more intentionally by moving basketball, tennis, pickleball and volleyball courts to the neighboring sports complex, allowing Katherine Rose Memorial Park to focus on inclusive play, family gathering spaces and connections to the natural setting.

A Flexible Vision for the Future
The master plan provides a roadmap for phased implementation, beginning with the inclusive playground and improved parking. By pairing thoughtful planning with future funding opportunities, the design creates a foundation for a park that will continue serving the community for years to come.
