Lubbock’s Indiana Avenue Widening from FM 1585 to Woodrow Road
In 2020, Parkhill was selected to lead a critical infrastructure project for the City of Lubbock and Lubbock County: a two-mile stretch of Indiana Avenue. The project’s scope included complex engineering services such as surveying, drainage analysis, utility coordination, and roadway design.

Engineered for the Future
The challenge lay in upgrading a two-lane rural road into a safer, more functional corridor while addressing significant water crossings and drainage concerns. Parkhill’s design introduced a two-way left-turn lane, new intersections, and improved pavement options, balancing functionality with cost-effectiveness. By collaborating closely with the City and County, the team resolved key challenges, enhancing both the roadway and local drainage systems without requiring costly upstream modifications.
Efficient Design, Long-Term Impact
Completed in 2019, the project now stands as a testament to the power of city-county collaboration, providing safer access to the growing community while showcasing a shared vision for long-term infrastructure solutions.
