Setting the Stage for Excellence by Training Tomorrow’s Athletes

In 2019, Parkhill completed the design for Melissa ISD’s new Indoor Athletic Training Facility, a 132,000-square-foot hub set to transform the district’s athletic program. The facility features a full-size indoor turf field for football and soccer, locker rooms for all boys’ sports, training facilities, and a lecture hall.

Building Champions

Melissa ISD, one of the fastest-growing districts in North Texas, has also forged partnerships with local sports medicine providers, allowing students hands-on learning opportunities in the field.

Overcoming Adversity

The project faced significant geotechnical challenges, including highly expansive clays and rock excavation, but Parkhill’s design team worked to navigate the difficult site terrain. As the first phase of the district’s athletic complex, the facility was completed under budget, allowing for the addition of a second phase that includes an outdoor track and football field.

Game Changer

Utilizing the Construction Manager as Adviser method, Parkhill partnered with HWH to ensure a collaborative, design-build spirit throughout the project, setting a new standard for innovation and athletic excellence in Melissa ISD.
