Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF) Terminal Building Baggage System
In 2018, Midland International Air & Space Port faced a critical need to upgrade its 20-year-old outbound baggage conveyance system. Parkhill was tasked with evaluating and designing a replacement system that would meet the evolving demands of the airport, airlines, and TSA. After detailed consultations with airport staff, it became clear that operational changes over the years necessitated an entirely new configuration for the baggage system.

Collaboration in Action
During the design phase, Parkhill developed several potential layouts, ultimately recommending a configuration that not only improved operational efficiency but also integrated seamlessly with the airport’s security system. This included advanced access control and roll-up doors for security screening, ensuring that the baggage system met modern safety standards.
A Smooth Landing
Construction began in December 2019, with Parkhill overseeing the process from design compliance checks to on-site visits. Despite the complexities of working within an active airport, the project was completed ahead of schedule in June 2020, delivering a fully operational, state-of-the-art baggage system that enhances the airport’s capacity to serve its passengers and secure its operations for years to come.
