Midland Municipal Solid Waste Cell 7 Excavation and Lining
Midland’s Cell 7 project covers a 26.8-acre footprint, excavated to a depth of 35 feet, resulting in the removal of nearly 1.4 million cubic yards of material. The advanced liner system, featuring a geosynthetic clay liner and a 60-millimeter geomembrane, ensures that the site meets strict environmental standards.

Protecting the Environment
A sophisticated leachate collection system, complete with drainage layers and perforated pipes, captures and removes liquids safely. The construction also included third-party testing and thorough documentation, with Geosynthetic Clay Liner and Geomembrane Liner Evaluation Reports ensuring the highest quality standards were met. The final step involved a two-foot layer of protective cover soil, providing durability and safety for years to come.
From Pipelines to New Roads
Beyond excavation, the project required the removal of an existing oil pipeline, the creation of a new heavy-duty access road, and the abandonment of an old groundwater monitoring well. Cell 7 stands as a testament to modern landfill engineering, balancing environmental protection with practical functionality.
