Reeves County CR 447 Improvements

How a New Bridge Design Can Protect an Entire County from Future Flooding

After meticulous analysis of each design’s impact on the surrounding banks, our team determined that a 200-foot-wide motorist bridge was the optimal solution. Designed to handle the 25-year storm event, its 2-foot piers, spaced at 50-foot intervals, ensure efficient water flow at manageable velocities during storms.

A Bridge Built for Safety and Sustainability

While rare 50- and 100-year storms will overtop the road, the design prioritizes affordability and functionality. Significantly, the Summer 2021 flood would have safely passed beneath the proposed structure, demonstrating its capacity to balance cost with effective flood mitigation for the client.
