Southlake Bicentennial Park – Phase 3
Southlake’s Bicentennial Park, originally dedicated in the late 1970s, stood as a cornerstone of community pride but remained largely untouched for decades. In the early 2000s, the City of Southlake partnered with Parkhill to breathe new life into the park, transforming it into a vibrant destination for recreation, connection, and community. This visionary partnership has redefined the role of public spaces in enhancing lives.

Inclusive Spaces for All Ages and Abilities
A centerpiece of the redesign is the all-abilities playground, a 1.3-acre haven where children and guardians of all abilities can gather, explore, and play. With features such as hillside slides, a 25-foot net climber, musical instruments, and zip lines, the playground fosters inclusivity and creativity. Additionally, the park boasts 11 baseball fields, including the Miracle Baseball Field, designed for community members with special needs. Enhanced facilities like six new tennis courts, a tennis clubhouse, and a spray park cater to Southlake’s active and diverse population.
Blending Functionality with Aesthetics
Parkhill’s design extends beyond recreation, addressing vital infrastructure needs. A series of retention and detention ponds, beautifully integrated into the park’s landscape, serve as both an eye-catching entrance feature and a solution to downstream flooding. Trails spanning the park leverage its natural 35- to 40-foot grade change, inviting visitors to hike and bike through Southlake’s picturesque terrain. With its 1920s architectural theme, Bicentennial Park is a model of thoughtful planning, blending practicality with timeless beauty to serve the community for generations to come.
