Bicentennial Park in Southlake

Transforming an Aging Park into Southlake’s Premier Recreation Destination

Bicentennial Park in Southlake transformed an aging 1970s facility into a vibrant 80-acre destination where recreation, nature, and community life come together. Designed to unify previously disconnected park areas, the project introduced a cohesive layout with improved circulation, a new entrance, and a roundabout that reduces congestion while welcoming visitors.

Fields, Trails, and Togetherness

At its heart is a premier athletics complex featuring nine tournament-level baseball fields, including leagues from Shetland to Mustang, a stadium field with sunken grandstand seating, and a Miracle Field designed so children of all abilities can experience the joy of baseball. Six tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and an extensive hike-and-bike trail system take advantage of the site’s dramatic 35–40-foot elevation change.

Play Without Limits

The park’s 1.3-acre inclusive playground serves as one of its most vibrant gathering spaces. Designed as a fully enclosed, accessible environment, the playground invites children of all abilities to explore, play, and interact together. Multiple play zones support different age groups, including areas for children ages 2–5 and 5–12, each filled with engaging elements such as hillside slides, climbing structures, swings, musical instruments, caves, and nature-inspired play features.

Smart Water for a Sustainable Park

Water features throughout the park serve both beauty and purpose. A series of ponds and a transformed drainage channel capture stormwater, reduce downstream flooding, and store up to 3.25 million gallons of irrigation water, sustaining the park’s fields and landscapes. Bridges, wayfinding, gathering spaces, and restored community buildings complete a park that now feels connected, welcoming, and ready for generations of play.
