University Medical Center (UMC) Business Center
University Medical Center (UMC) has taken a significant step in streamlining its operations with the creation of the UMC Business Center. This new facility consolidates various administrative services, enhancing efficiency across the UMC Health System. The project unfolds in two phases, covering a total of 82,000 square feet.

Innovative Design for Efficient Operations
Phase 1, encompassing 40,500 square feet, is designed to accommodate IT operations, featuring a Level-2 mission-critical facility, open office areas, conference and training spaces, and private administrative offices. This phase ensures that IT and critical operations are housed in a secure, efficient environment.
Phase 2, spanning 41,500 square feet, houses departments such as legal, home health, and marketing. The design focuses on smaller, compartmentalized departments, promoting a more tailored and focused work environment. Shared workspaces and conference areas facilitate collaboration, while a large, shared break area fosters a sense of community among employees.
Expanding Care to Meet Growing Demand
For new parents, the East Tower offers two well-baby nurseries and 44 postpartum patient rooms, along with classrooms and a specialized fertility suite for IVF procedures, making it a comprehensive center for families.
The third and fourth floors remain as shell space, allowing for future expansion as community needs grow. The design thoughtfully includes a fifth-floor penthouse housing air handling units and modulating boilers, with additional capacity for future demands.

Modern Facilities for Enhanced Productivity
The Business Center’s exterior showcases a modern aesthetic with a facade of stone and stucco, complemented by aluminum sunshades and metal accents. Constructed using tilt-wall methods with internal steel, the building is both robust and flexible, prepared to meet UMC’s evolving needs.
This new Business Center is more than just an administrative hub—it’s a strategic move to enhance collaboration, streamline operations, and better serve the community’s healthcare needs.
