Plainview Independent School District leaders and stakeholders broke ground Friday on the first two of the district’s bond-funded construction projects.
PISD board members, city leaders, business leaders, students, and citizens gathered first at Coronado Middle School and then later at Estacado Middle School for the ceremonies.
The board officially approved contractors for both of these projects in January and in December. Teinert filed commercial demolition and commercial addition permits for the campuses with the city in January.
Plainview voters within the school district boundaries voted in favor of a $76.62 million bond package in 2019 that would condense district facilities from 10 campuses to six. Over the past year, the board has worked with Parkhill to roll out plans for two new elementary schools and renovation plans for the current middle school campuses.
