Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences in Lubbock, Texas, was awarded the Best in City Center - West Texas Excellence in Design Award at the annual IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter Awards Gala in Houston. This year, the IIDA Texas Oklahoma Chapter received more than 100 entries, and Buddy Holly Hall was singled out by IIDA's esteemed panel of judges as the best example of design excellence for the Excellence in Design category.
"Our firm's success, in orchestra with many specialized consultants, is affirmed each time our designers see visitors in awe of the Texas-sized impacts of this sensational building," said Britni Wilkens, IIDA, LEED AP.
Buddy Holly Hall is a cultural hub of Lubbock and supports performing arts from diverse local stakeholders, including Ballet Lubbock, the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Independent School District Visual and Performing Arts, and traveling shows from Broadway producer The American Theater Guild. The facility's design honors local singer and songwriter icon Buddy Holly and provides an opportunity to celebrate the beauty of West Texas through the colors of West Texas skies and the smooth shapes based on natural arroyo basins. The state-of-the-art facility features two theatres, an event space, a full-service bistro, and a ballet academy all under one roof and has the flexibility for educational opportunities and banquets.
Congratulations to the Buddy Holly Project Team and the Parkhill Interiors Team!
