ARLINGTON, Texas — Leaders from the Arlington Historical Society, the City of Arlington, Tarrant County and other community groups on Friday celebrated the launch of a collaborative project to preserve and restore an important piece of the city’s history.

The vision for the Arlington Heritage Memorial Grounds project includes installing a wrought iron fence, adding security lighting, restoring gravesites, and adding sidewalks that will allow and encourage people to explore the site, which sits on West Arkansas Lane near Marrow Bone Spring Park. Other plans include creating a new entrance, building a parking lot, adding flagpoles, and creating an interactive history tour for visitors.
