Q: What values set Parkhill apart for you?

·        Real Innovation – Approaching problem solving with an open mind to new possibilities provides for more valuable solutions that will have a greater impact on Parkhill.

·        Enduring Relationships – Keeping people “front of mind” when planning and making decisions is critical to our success.

·        Humble Leadership – Our credibility depends on our ability to be humble and empathetic.

Q: What has given you a passion for your firm or your expertise?

It is easy to be passionate about Parkhill’s mission of Building Community. Parkhill has touched so many lives through our projects. My family has personally benefited from healthcare, K-12, higher education, church and community, water & wastewater, water treatment, environmental, aviation, and landscape projects. As a human resources professional, I see my role as building the employee community. We constantly strive to build the culture within the firm and to engage employees in multiple ways. We have such an amazing team; it is truly a pleasure to serve them.

Q: Tell us about your honors, awards, or something that you have done that might surprise people.

·        2008 Human Resources Professional of the Year, Lubbock Society of Human Resource Professionals

·        2015 SHRM Legacy Award, Lubbock Society of Human Resource Professionals

·        2019 Parkhill Expertise Award

Q: Magazines in the industry have interviewed you. What were those topics, and how did you respond?

I have contributed to two American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Engineering magazines. In Engineering Inc. Magazine, I explained innovative ways that Parkhill is dealing with the shrinking pool of STEM graduates entering engineering. Another Engineering Inc. article about life balance after the COVID-19 pandemic will be published this summer.

Q: What is the next challenge in your field?

In the ever-changing world of employment law, we constantly adapt to new and changing requirements. Employee needs change over time, so programs and benefits must also adapt. Technology and tools change so rapidly; it is imperative to stay on pace and provide employees the tools and education to succeed.

Q: Looking forward, where do you see your industry going in the next 20 years?

Culture, compliance, recruitment, and retention will continue to be challenges for many years to come.
